At the University of Toledo, strength is themost important variable for our football players. Under the supervision of Director of Football Strength and Conditioning RudyWade, the Rocket Strength program covers all components of physical and mental training. If two football players are equal, the stronger one will always have the competitive advantage. Strength is the key component for power, explosiveness, speed, agility, quickness, conditioning, balance and fexibility. A stronger and better conditioned athlete will always have an edge in confdence. Most importantly, strength
training will help minimize injury, decrease rehabilitation time and give meaning to the entire program… that is the ROCKET CULTURE!
Toledo Rocket Footbal l Strength and Conditioning Philosophy
Toledo Strength is a pe-riodized, year-round football specifc, speed, strength and conditioningprogram. Strength training is based on the pro-gressive overload principle,
utilizingmany diferentmodalities includingmulti-joint ground based exercise that will enable each student-athlete to gain the total body strength needed. Methods will minimize risk of injury while increasing work capacity and football specifc po-tential.
The strength staf is dedicated to giving each student-athlete the best “hands-on” training pos-sible, building team cohesiveness and mental toughness through a disciplined, intense and ener-getic approach. All student-athletes are educated on nutritional behavior to enhance performance to their maximum capabilities.
