Scott Isphording
Passing Game Coordinator/Quarterbacks/Recruiting Coordintator
Scott “Izzy” Isphording is the master-mind behind Toledo’s unique passing at-tack.
Now in his third season with the Rockets, Isphording will serve as the passing game coordinator after spend-ing the past two seasons as the quarter-backs coach. He will also serve as UT’s recruiting coordinator.
During 2011 campaign, Isphording helped manage the Rockets’ highly suc-cessful dual-QB system, which culminat-ed in a 9-4 record and a victory in the Mil-itary Bowl. Under Isphording’s tutelage, Toledo became the frst program in the history of the NCAA to have two quar-terbacks fnish in the top 25 in passing
efciency. Sophomore Terrance Owens and junior Aus-tin Dantin combined to throw for 3,480 yards and 34 touchdowns in guiding the Rockets to a Military Bowl victory. Owens also set the MAC record for completion percentage (72.2 percent).
Isphording joined the Rockets’ staf in 2010 and helped UT to its frst bowl game in fve years. Thanks to Isphording’s guidance, Toledo’s ofense hardly missed a beat after Dantin, the full-time starter at the time, went down with a season-ending injury, winning three of fve games behind Owens. Combined, the duo threw for 2,498 yards and 20 TDs.
Isphording had plenty of experience in the Mid-American Conference prior to his arrival in Toledo. He spent 2009 as the tight ends coach and recruiting co-ordinator at Ohio University. Isphording helped guide Ohio to a 9-5 record, a MAC East Division Champion-ship and a berth in the Motor City Bowl.
